Stabilized Tasmanian Blackwood from Australia. Nice coloring and flashy figure that seems to move around beneath the surface of the wood when light hits from different angles with the figure changing from light to dark. Tasmanian Blackwood can be easily mistaken for Hawaiian Koa. Both are in the Acacia family hence the similarities.
Professionally stabilized by K&G Stabilizing. Their chemical stabilizing process fully impregnates the wood with a chemical solution that is then cured into a solid. This process makes the wood harder and more durable than it was prior to stabilizing.
